Car Craziness.

I have determined in just the past few days that I am going to have to get a new car (not brand new - new to me) I was checking something on my payroll information on the computer the other day & found a notice there that they’re not going to release (not even on line) the w2’s until 1/31. Last year they were released about 2 weeks before that, I printed mine out at work & had my tax refund by anticipation loan (yes, I know they cost a bit, it’s worth it to me)

My inspection sticker for my car expires on 1/31. I have to fix the rear end, have new tires & some brake work done before I can have that car inspected & the cost of those repairs, especially along with the tune up & oil change I try to have done at tax time,Not to mention the thump, getting progressively louder in my right front wheel well- which could be shocks, struts or something in the U-joints, (the ex’s guess) . The cost of all this seems to me to be too much to put into a car with 145,000 miles on it already- especially without any money to do anything before 2/1.

So the maybe I should get a new car thought is rapidly merging into: I have to get a new car & it’s going to have to happen with this damaged, dented, 145 thousand miles on it car as my only trade in/down payment. I spent much of Tuesday shopping online for another car & have a few in mind, the Hyundai Santa Fe & the Jeep Compass are both available as used cars (one is a 2005, the other a 2007) within my expected price range.

I filled out the online credit qualification but the guy who called me back hadn’t looked at what my price range was yet- said he had to wait for someone to go across the street to their other building & get it. I think he was more than a little discomfited that I asked that question up front & then told him what I wanted- I am a terrible wheeler & dealer & hate the process. I also have really low tolerance for B.S & smoke blowing & so do not often get along well with sales people in general.

I usually try to explain to them up front that I don’t/won’t tolerate B.S. & that I just want to get it over with. For me to go in & say I want my payment to be around $200. expecting that it will actually be between $250. & 300. Is the closest to ‘dealing’ with them I get.

I have plans now to go to the dealership on Friday- not ideal- it means I have to take 11 & 8 with me, but I do need to do something about the car before the end of the month & the quicker the whole ordeal is over with the better (as far as I’m concerned)

Good luck car hunting…My price range is a horse..or a donkey right now. And I think they would be easier to take care of then a car these days. Vet bills and hay are probably cheaper :)
