Thursday

The day was wet & rainy & miss 17 was in a bad mood so we left her & the BF at my mothers &  We went to A bookstore in Newton to check it out – I had seen it in a post by Margalit  (Go check out the link! It is so worth the time it takes to load- she took a ton of great pictures- any book lover will just drool) So I emailed her for directions back in March when she put up the post- my mother had heard of it but had never been there.

So rain or no- we drove up to Newton & checked it out- we barely even looked over the new books all arranged by publisher which is something my mother & I agreed we never really checked out & which didn’t help us much in regards to just browsing.

The bargain area is where we spent our time & our money (well mine- I don’t think my mother bought much this time but I’m sure she’ll be back there) I got a book for everyone & 4 for myself- I still haven’t read all of them yet! I could have easily spent hundreds of dollars in that place- coffee table books- fiction- books on Halloween & Christmas & party giving. Cook books- music books both music & about bands & musicians. Oh I’m getting mad that I didn’t spend more time & money there now! Just wishing I’d picked up this or that which I saw there!

The rest of the day was fairly uneventful. We came back to find 17 still surly & the BF resigned. We shared our purchases &  then went back to Rockland to eat at Themis because that was the only place anyone could agree on. On the way back the kids were bemoaning the lack of ice cream in their lives so I went up to the center of Rockland because I’d seen an ice cream parlor there when we drove through a few days before. It used to be an athletic shop & is nearly directly across from the town hall. It had a train theme which pleased mr 8 to no end & the ice cream was good. We talked in depth with the woman behind the counter who was quite friendly (unusual in MA – in my experience) & a great time was had by all.
